Time for some very exciting news…
Moving to Mars has been selected to open this year’s Sheffield DOC/FEST.
Everyone here at Coded Pictures is thrilled that the film is going to open such a great festival. Sheffield was the city that offered a safe haven to the two families in the film. It has a long history of welcoming and supporting persecuted refugees, and it even received the UK’s first ‘City of Sanctuary‘ award in 2007. So as a location for our premiere, it couldn’t be more appropriate!
DOC/FEST is the biggest and best documentary film festival in the UK, so to have Moving to Mars as their opening night film is a real honour. Heather Croall, the festival director, also had some very nice things to say about the film:
“The synergy between the city of Sheffield, Sheffield Doc/Fest and Moving To Mars is exceptional. The people of Sheffield have a long history of welcoming displaced people and at a time when Burma is again hitting the headlines it is especially fitting to be opening Doc/Fest with the World Premiere of Mat Whitecross’s Moving To Mars.”
We’re really grateful to DOC/FEST for giving the film such a great opening, and we can’t wait to get back up to Sheffield to celebrate the diversity and hospitality of this rather great city.
It’s been a very long three years since Moving to Mars went into production, and we’re very excited to finally be able to screen it. The festival runs from November 4th – November 8th this year… and, quite honestly, we can’t wait. See you there!
